We are looking to appoint an energetic and committed professional with successful middle leadership and some whole school experience, to the role of Assistant Headteacher of KS4 at Twyford C of E high school. The main purpose of the post is to ensure all students achieve outstanding outcomes for all students in Key Stage 4 through effective delivery of curriculum & assessment as well as pastoral and wider learning.
The post is therefore an excellent opportunity for a motivated and committed professional with an intelligent interest in whole school leadership to develop as a well‑rounded member of the SLT. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the experience drive to lead within a staff team committed to achieving outstanding results for all students irrespective of ability. S/He will be enthused by the prospect of maintaining a student learning culture which is engaging and aspirational. S/he will set high standards for students and staff in all aspects of school life.
This role presents a unique professional development opportunity for a candidate who already has significant expertise in leading a curriculum area or a pastoral team which has focussed on both attainment and wellbeing. The role provides the opportunity to grow as a key member of the SLT and to develop towards Deputy Headship. S/he will develop as an Assistant Headteacher within a visionary and enterprising context, and with the support of an experienced SLT and Executive team. They will also join at a time of change and growth for the SLT.
The usual salary range for this role is L10-14. The school will consider candidates of exceptional ability who have less than the specified experience where there is evidence of outstanding outcomes; salary adjustment would apply if the role were taken forward in reduced form and with additional support.

Twyford Church of England High School is the founding school of the Twyford CE Academies Trust, the highest performing Trust in the UK. It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages and a reputation for excellence that has made it heavily oversubscribed. Twyford has very strong Christian foundations and is rated 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted (October 2023) and was successful in its SIAMS inspection (November 2024). The majority of Sixth Form students progress to university, taking a wide range of routes including competitive courses such as Medicine and Engineering at Oxbridge and top Russell Group universities. There is also an Additional Resourced Centre for students with EHC Plans, mainly focused on students with Autism and Speech & Language difficulties. The school prides itself on inclusive approaches and has an active House System and Sixth Form Community Service Programme.
