This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative teacher who is passionate about music and looking for the opportunity to be a successful classroom practitioner in an outstanding school. The successful candidate will support the Head of Department in providing an exceptional learning environment and outcomes as well as a rich wider learning offer in Music. S/he will contribute to the development of a culture of sharing good practice within the department and across the school.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a willingness to fully engage in teaching & learning and continuing professional development. S/he will ideally have experience of achieving outstanding student outcomes across a range of abilities, although this position would be suitable for an enthusiastic and ambitious ECT. S/he should be excited by the prospect of working with others to achieve common goals and will feel passionately about the need to ensure that disadvantaged pupils achieve in line with, or better than, their non-disadvantaged peers, particularly in Music.

The successful candidate will be required to lead choir(s) and/or ensembles and would ideally be a capable pianist and accompanist. A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status are required.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading music teaching and contributing to the department and school-wide music offer.
  • Leading choir(s) and/or ensembles; ideally being a capable pianist and accompanist.
  • Contributing to the development of a rich wider learning offer in Music and a culture of sharing good practice within the department and across the school.
  • Supporting the Head of Department in providing an exceptional learning environment and outcomes.
  • Engaging in teaching & learning and continuing professional development to sustain high-quality classroom practice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to teach Music to at least KS4.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • An understanding of recent curriculum/learning developments.
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement.
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students' learning effectively.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school.
