We are working with a well-established and expanding rural estate in North Yorkshire, recognised for its high-quality country sports and outdoor leisure offering. At the heart of the estate is a respected clay shooting operation, supported by hospitality, retail and customer experiences. As the estate looks to broaden its offer and develop a more resilient, year-round business, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead existing operations and play a key role in future growth.
The role is a senior, hands-on position with responsibility for both day-to-day performance and longer-term development. The Commercial Manager will:
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a premium country sports and outdoor leisure business, ensuring a consistently high-quality customer experience.
- Oversee the clay shooting operation as a core part of the offer, working closely with experienced instructors and operational teams.
- Lead, motivate and develop a multi-disciplinary team across operations, hospitality, retail and front-of-house service.
- Take ownership of commercial performance, including budgets, pricing, margins and overall P&L delivery.
- Play a leading role in shaping the estate's future commercial offer, identifying, planning and delivering new income-generating outdoor leisure activities and experiences.
- Assess opportunities, build business cases, oversee launches and embed new ventures into day-to-day operations, with the aim of extending trading beyond traditional peak periods and building a more resilient, year-round business.
- Act as a visible on-site presence, building strong relationships with customers, corporate clients, partners and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the owners and directors on longer-term commercial planning and the future direction of the estate.
About you: You are likely to bring:
- Experience within country sports, outdoor leisure, visitor attractions or hospitality-led rural businesses.
- Strong commercial capability, with confidence around financial management, targets and KPIs.
- Proven people leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with both operational specialists and customer-facing teams.
- Commercial curiosity and energy, with an appetite for developing new ideas and turning them into well-run, profitable ventures.
- A practical, flexible approach and willingness to work weekends and peak trading periods as required.
