We are working with a well-established rural estate in North Yorkshire to appoint a Commercial Manager to lead its outdoor leisure and country sports operations. At the heart of the estate is a premium clay shooting business supported by hospitality, retail and visitor experiences. As the estate expands its year-round commercial offer, this role will take ownership of current performance and shape the next phase of growth. This is a senior, hands-on role combining operational leadership with commercial development.
The Role
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a premium outdoor leisure and country sports business
- Oversee the clay shooting operation and customer experience
- Lead and develop teams across operations, hospitality, retail and front-of-house
- Own commercial performance including budgets, pricing, margins and P&L
- Identify and deliver new income-generating leisure activities
- Build business cases, oversee launches and embed new ventures
- Extend trading beyond peak seasons and build year-round resilience
- Act as a visible on-site leader and customer presence
- Work closely with owners on long-term commercial strategy
About You
- Background in outdoor leisure, visitor attractions, hospitality or rural businesses
- Strong commercial capability and financial confidence
- Proven people leadership
- Entrepreneurial mindset with energy for growth
- Practical and flexible, comfortable with weekend work
- Experience in clay shooting or country sports is beneficial but not essential
