A successful fifth-generation family-owned manufacturing group is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director to join its Board. With revenues in excess of £40 million, approximately 125 employees, operations across two UK sites and a customer base that extends into international markets, the business is performing strongly and is entering an important stage in its development.

The Board is seeking an individual who can provide perspective, challenge and support whilst helping the business continue to evolve without losing the qualities that have contributed to its success over generations. Family business experience is considered fundamental to this appointment.

We are particularly interested in speaking with current or former CEOs, Managing Directors, business owners, Chairs and Non-Executive Directors who understand the opportunities and complexities that arise where ownership, leadership and long-term stewardship intersect.

Candidates should also bring:

  • Previous experience as an NED, or Chair, in a family-owned business
  • Experience within manufacturing or operationally complex businesses
  • Strong commercial judgement
  • Governance capability
  • The confidence to challenge constructively
  • The ability to build trusted relationships

This is not a passive board appointment. The Board is seeking a visible and engaged Non-Executive Director who is prepared to invest time in understanding the business, supporting the leadership team and building relationships with both family and non-family leaders. The anticipated commitment is approximately 2–3 days per month on average, although this may vary throughout the year depending on Board activity and business priorities.

Candidates should be located within reasonable travelling distance of Essex and London.
