We are recruiting a Finance Director (Designate) on behalf of an international, multi-entity SME entering an exciting period of growth and transformation. Initially joining as Group Financial Controller , you will play a key role in shaping the finance function, with a structured transition to Finance Director following the planned retirement of the current FD.
Location: Near Stockport, Greater Manchester (on-site)
The Role
This is a pivotal position, responsible for leading financial strategy and operations across an international group spanning the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, the US, and India . The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial management , ensuring strong financial processes, system integration, and operational efficiency as the business continues to scale.
The company is a recognised leader in its sector, combining traditional manufacturing expertise with advanced technology. The finance function is evolving, and this role presents an opportunity to drive positive change, develop processes, and step into a Finance Director role in a fast-moving and forward-thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership – Oversee multi-entity group finance , including consolidations, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strategic Support – Work closely with the leadership team to drive decision-making on investment, risk, and business growth .
- ERP & Systems Integration – Lead the implementation and optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 across all entities.
- Compliance & Governance – Ensure adherence to UK GAAP, IFRS, and local financial regulations in multiple jurisdictions.
- Team Development – Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, working with both UK and international finance professionals.
Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or ACMA ).
- Experience in group accounting across multiple international entities.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing teams and working with senior stakeholders.
- Experience in ERP implementation , ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Background in manufacturing or international SMEs is advantageous.
