Who We Are
Twycross Zoo is an award-winning conservation and science-led zoo in the heart of England. This year we are celebrating our 60th birthday! We are rapidly growing and welcoming over 600,000 people every year to our 100-acre rural site near Atherstone.
The Role
Working within both our Entertainments team and Operations team, you will work across the Zoo premises including all outdoor visitor areas in all weather conditions. Your duties will include:
- Reading stories to younger visitors
- Rehearsing for and performing in staged performances
- Wearing mascot costumes
- Manning play areas of themed events
- Entertaining at children’s parties
- Helping with idea development for shows and stories taking place in Gruffalo Discovery Land
In addition, you may undertake the role of Visitor Experience Assistant as needed, with tasks to include:
- Working within the soft play area
- Assisting with hosting children’s parties
- Achieving targets set by the business
- Offering information and directions to visitors on the venue and its products, including memberships, adoptions, events and offers
- Ensuring excellent park presentation including cleaning, waste management, and litter picking
You may also work as part of the Admissions team, depending on days and hours available.
The Package
Successful applicants will be employed until the 3rd of September 2023 with the potential for this to be extended or become permanent. You’ll work on a contract with a minimum of 4 hours per week guaranteed (although likely to be considerably more hours available from 1 day per week (likely 9am to 6pm) up to 5 days per week full time, especially during school holidays). You will benefit from:

Our Requirements
A flexible approach to tasks and hours with availability to work at least 4 hours per week as a minimum. Access to some form of private transport is essential as local public transport timetables are not fitting with hours of work. Confident, friendly and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. Passion for delivering brilliant customer service. Punctual, reliable, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and unsupervised. Although not essential, experience gained in performance, leisure or visitor attraction environment would be desirable.
