TWP is a well established firm of chartered accountants, tax and business advisers with offices in Weybridge, Cranleigh, Guildford and Kingston upon Thames. With over 50 highly skilled employees, including partners, we are a firm committed to delivering exceptional service to both individual and corporate clients. We are actively recruiting a Bookkeeper who is passionate about making a difference to join our friendly and supportive working environment on a full time or part time basis. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced accounting professionals. TWP has a varied client base giving candidates the opportunity to get involved with a variety of work and development opportunities.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Process sales and purchase invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Post journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other necessary adjustments.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, petty cash, and other control accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers, ensuring they are kept up to date.
- Prepare VAT returns and submit them in line with current HMRC regulations (if applicable).
- Ensure all entries are posted accurately to produce trial balances ready for review by Client Managers.
- Liaise with clients to resolve queries, gather necessary documentation, and ensure timely processing of transactions.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining efficient bookkeeping processes and use of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent).
- Provide periodic financial information to assist in decision-making and statutory compliance.
Skills and Knowledge
- Capable and driven accounting professional, ideally AAT qualified, part qualified or qualified through experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a bookkeeper.
- Proficient in bookkeeping, without supervision, and up to trial balance.
- Confident and competent using a wide range of cloud-based accounting and bookkeeping platforms, including Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent.
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to understand, evaluate, and interpret financial data to support client decision-making.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently, proactive in asking clarifying questions to ensure work effort is directed wholly toward desired outcome.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Proficient user of Microsoft office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
