We’re a London-based creative digital agency specialising in Shopify ecommerce. We design and build beautiful, high-performing online stores for household names including Fever-Tree, Gü, Diddly Squat Farm, Tenzing, Sacla’ and Planthood. We also have built a rapidly growing white label gym management platform, CodexFit, which powers gyms across the world.
As a member of our team, we want you to:
- Get involved with your teammates' projects.
- Create exciting new websites and bring your thoughts and experience to the table.
- Work intelligently - using industry standard libraries and frameworks to speed up development, then writing bespoke code for the problems no one else has solved.
- Have time to play around and improve your skills - you’ll be given training materials and time to expand your skillset.
- Go home on time - our working hours are 9-6 (9-5 on in-office days) with an hour lunch (flexi-time available), and we’re strict about maintaining your work/life balance.
This role is London based, with 2 days a week in our Central London office, and 3 remote. We do not have the facility to offer Visas, so if you do not live in the UK (or are not planning to relocate) and/or if you don't have the legal right to work in the UK, please do not apply as your application will be automatically rejected.
We are looking for a backend/PHP developer to join our small, agile team in bringing exciting websites and applications to life while supporting the fantastic work that our team has already produced.
Most Importantly... We’re looking for a backend developer who sees beyond the brief, someone who doesn’t just ship solutions, but questions, refines, and elevates them. You’ll be the kind of problem solver who asks, “How can this be better?”, not just today, but long-term. At twotwentyseven, we care about building things properly: scalable, thoughtful, and built to last. If you take pride in improving the way things work, not just completing tasks, you’ll fit right in, and we’d love to hear from you.
On the average day, you may:
- Perform a mix of new development, enhancements, and maintenance development using PHP 8.x, Laravel and JS.
- Integrate with, or build out 3rd party APIs.
- Collaborate with teammates, solving problems or implementing new processes and practices.
- Join meetings with clients to understand requirements and add technical knowledge.
- Document features, technical specifications & infrastructure.
You have...
- Excellent understanding of PHP and MVC frameworks: with PHP8.x experience.
- Laravel Filament - this is what we build most of our admin panels with.
- Good understanding of MySQL.
- Are used to working with Git/Github.
- Good understanding of using and developing APIs.
- Knowledge of software testing using frameworks such as PHPUnit/Dusk.
- Basic understanding of CSS pre-processing, such as SCSS.
- Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that site will adhere to them.
- Linux/*nix command line/configuration.
- Build tools, such as Webpack/Vite.
- Server management/configuration, such as: nginx/Apache/crontab.
- Amazon Web Services (inc Lambda/Cloudwatch/RDS/EC2).
- Laravel 1st party software (like Vapor/Forge/Cashier).
- MacOS experience (we supply and use Macbook Pro's to develop on).
- Shopify API experience.
You’ll be working across two core areas of the business, CodexFit, the white label gym management system, and some of twotwentyseven's biggest clients. The projects you’ll be working on with twotwentyseven clients are primarily custom solutions that bridge a gap between their operational needs and Shopify - using Laravel Filament and the Shopify API we’ve built entire custom subscription engines that power multi million pound brands, a custom tour booking app, bundling tools, fulfilment integrations as well as fully custom website filament CMS's for our clients who don’t suit the Shopify ecosystem.
Is problem solving your jam? Coming up with ways to make things better, and having a genuine impact on some of the UK’s biggest brands? We’d love to hear from you!
What we offer:
- Competitive base salary - dependent on experience, but between ÂŁ36,000 - ÂŁ50,000.
- 32 days annual leave.
