We're supporting a leading infrastructure organisation that is looking to appoint an

Environmental Advisor to join its growing SHEQ team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional to play a key role in driving compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Working closely with operational teams, you'll help ensure environmental standards are maintained while supporting the business's wider ESG and sustainability objectives.

The Key Responsibilities of the Environmental Advisor

  • Monitor compliance with environmental legislation, ISO 14001 standards, environmental permits, and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across operational and project sites.
  • Act as the Technically Competent Manager (TCM) for Waste, ensuring waste management activities remain compliant.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support the development and continual improvement of Environmental Management Systems and environmental controls.
  • Assist with external ISO audits and maintain relationships with certification bodies and regulatory authorities.
  • Support ESG reporting, carbon reduction initiatives, and environmental performance monitoring.
  • Provide environmental guidance and support to project teams, operational personnel, and business stakeholders.
  • Deliver environmental training, communications, and best practice advice across the business.
  • Produce reports and recommendations, highlighting risks, opportunities, and areas for continuous improvement.

The Environmental Advisor will have

  • Experience within Environmental Management, ideally within Construction, Utilities, Infrastructure, Civil Engineering, or a similar sector.
  • A strong understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience carrying out environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, waste management, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting sustainability, carbon reduction, or ESG initiatives would be advantageous.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to influence and support operational teams.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites when required.
