An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor to join a forward-thinking business at the forefront of infrastructure development. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering environmental and sustainability strategies across a diverse range of rail, civils, and power projects throughout Scotland.
- Develop and implement sustainability and climate resilience strategies aligned with project and organisational objectives.
- Provide technical sustainability advice and support to project and operational teams.
- Prepare and submit environmental permits in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sustainability legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Implement and monitor Project Sustainability Plans, maintaining sustainability registers.
- Identify and lead sustainability initiatives while tracking performance against KPIs.
- Conduct sustainability assurance activities and manage environmental opportunities and risks.
- Ensure sustainability considerations are embedded in design and decision-making processes.
- Carry out site inspections and produce reports to promote environmental best practices.
- Oversee environmental incident investigations and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
- Track waste management statistics and energy use to report carbon emissions.
Proven experience in environmental and sustainability roles, ideally within rail or civil engineering sectors. Broader sustainability knowledge (e.g., carbon reduction, climate change, circular economy) would be advantageous. Degree, HND, HNC, Diploma in an environmental or sustainability discipline. Experience working in construction project environments. Prior ecological experience and familiarity with on-site environmental issues. Full UK driving licence.
