Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Advisor
Location: Reading (with regional travel)

We're supporting a leading water and infrastructure organisation that is looking to appoint a Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Advisor to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of water, wastewater and civil infrastructure projects, partnering with operational teams to promote exceptional standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys spending time on site, building strong relationships with operational teams and helping to create a positive safety culture. You'll provide practical SHEQ support across water treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipeline projects and wider infrastructure works, carrying out audits and inspections, assisting with investigations and playing a key role in driving continuous improvement across multiple sites.
The Key Responsibilities of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Advisor:
- Provide SHEQ support across a range of water, wastewater and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across operational sites and construction activities.
- Support incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Review risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work activities.
- Coach and support operational teams, contractors and supply chain partners to promote best practice.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, framework partners and internal stakeholders.
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of SHEQ management systems.
- Promote environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and quality standards across all projects.
- Assist operational teams in meeting regulatory and client requirements within the water sector.
The Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Advisor will have:
- NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum.
- Experience within the water, utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering or another high-risk operational environment.
- A sound understanding of UK health and safety legislation and its application within construction and operational environments.
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and an understanding of environmental compliance requirements would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to influence and support operational teams and contractors.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across regional project locations.
