About the Role
We’re supporting a major contractor in the appointment of a Head of Health & Safety. This is a senior, high-profile leadership role, responsible for setting strategy, shaping culture and driving performance across a complex, live infrastructure programme. The role is suited to an experienced H&S leader with proven delivery at project or programme level on major infrastructure schemes, comfortable leading large teams within multi-contractor, high-risk environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic health & safety leadership across a major infrastructure project
- Lead, develop and mentor a large H&S team
- Shape and implement project-wide H&S strategy aligned to best practice and regulatory expectations
- Act as a trusted advisor to project directors and senior delivery leadership
- Drive continuous improvement, assurance and learning across health & safety performance
- Oversee audits, legal compliance, risk management and governance frameworks
- Build strong relationships with client teams and complex supply chains
- Support and lead accident and incident investigations, assurance actions and reporting
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong people leadership capability, including leading other managers and senior professionals
- Degree, Diploma or equivalent Level 5+ qualification in Health & Safety (or related discipline)
- Chartered IOSH status (CMIOSH) or working towards
- Excellent influencing skills, able to operate from site level through to executive stakeholders
