Engineering Estimator – CNC Machining

TwoSix Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Estimator to join an established precision engineering business specialising in complex, quality-critical machined components.
If you have a strong CNC machining background and understand what goes into producing an accurate, commercially viable quotation, this could be an excellent next move.
The role at a glance
- £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
- 12.30pm finish every Friday
- Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Contributory pension and life assurance
- Permanent, full-time role
The role
Working from customer drawings and specifications, you'll determine the most effective way to manufacture each component and produce accurate quotations.
You'll be:
- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
- Producing accurate and timely quotations
- Establishing the best method of manufacture
- Calculating CNC machining, set-up and production times
- Assessing machine capabilities
- Considering materials, tooling and processes
- Working across CNC turning and milling
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and production
- Balancing competitive pricing with commercial requirements
What we're looking for
You'll need a strong practical understanding of precision CNC machining, including:
- CNC turning and milling
- Machining methods and machine capabilities
- Tooling, materials and manufacturing processes
- Calculating realistic machining and production times
- Reading complex engineering drawings
- Working within a quality-controlled manufacturing environment
Experience within a subcontract machine shop would be particularly useful.
You may already be an Engineering Estimator, or come from CNC programming or manufacturing engineering with experience of costing, process planning or estimating.
You'll ideally be apprentice trained or time served, with the confidence to work independently and make sound technical and commercial decisions.
