Production & Stores Operative / Case Maker

Are you practical, hands-on and organised, with experience in production AND some stores or warehouse experience?
We are working with a well-established packaging and manufacturing company in Poole who are looking for a Production & Stores Operative / Case Maker to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is primarily a hands-on production and case-making role, with additional responsibility for supporting the stores operation.
About the Role
Approximately 70% of the role will be based within production, manufacturing and assembling bespoke wooden cases and packaging.
The remaining 30% will involve supporting the stores operation, assisting the existing Stores operative when they are busy or absent and helping to ensure materials and stock are organised and available for production.
This is an ideal role for someone with a practical production or manufacturing background who also has previous stores or warehouse experience.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Case Making – approximately 70%
- Manufacturing and assembling bespoke wooden cases and crates
- Using hand and power tools to cut, shape and assemble timber components
- Measuring, cutting and fitting wooden components accurately
- Preparing, packing, shrink-wrapping and palletising finished products
- Supporting the production team with general workshop duties
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
Stores – approximately 30%
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the stores
- Receiving, checking and organising incoming materials
- Picking materials and components for production
- Maintaining organised stock and storage areas
- Loading and unloading deliveries
- Assisting the existing Stores operative during busy periods and periods of absence
- Using mechanical handling equipment where required
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, assembly or workshop environment
- Practical experience using hand and power tools
- Some previous experience within a stores, warehouse or stock control environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with manual and physical work
- Full UK Driving Licence (manual) – essential
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Case Maker, Production Operative, Assembler or Woodworker
- Experience working with timber or wooden products
- Forklift licence, ideally counterbalance
The Person
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, organised and flexible, with a strong work ethic and a genuine hands-on approach.
You will spend the majority of your time in production and case making, but will also need to be comfortable supporting the stores function when required.
