J.P. Morgan's Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) is a global leader across Banking, Research, Markets, Payments and Securities Services. The Communications team within CIB is responsible for Media Relations, Internal Communications and Social Media. This successful candidate will work in the Media Relations function within the CIB, supporting the Investment Banking business (M&A, capital markets, industry and sector coverage) on a day-to-day basis. They will report to the Head of Media Relations in London and coordinate closely with Media Relations and Marketing colleagues worldwide to tell a coordinated story covering these businesses. They will also provide reporting and analysis support on a regular basis to measure the wider team’s impact in the market.

Job responsibilities:

  • Supporting proactive and reactive media engagement for the firm’s Investment Banking businesses.
  • Establish, develop and maintain day‑to‑day relationships with key financial journalists and help them write about the markets and the firm with commentary from the bank’s spokespeople.
  • Serve as counsel to our spokespeople and partners on media, reputation and communications strategy.
  • Sourcing comment opportunities and writing pitches for thought leadership opportunities in the financial and international media.
  • Engage with broadcast and print media around our regular Investor conferences.
  • Fully manage logistics for media interviews or background conversations, and support our spokespeople throughout these interactions by curating key messaging and media training.
  • Collaborate across the organisation on internal communications, social media and content development.
  • Assist in creating analysis and measurement reports for the regional Communications team; create and maintain media lists.
  • Handle audit and other compliance requirements for pre‑approvals, disclosures, and logging of public appearances by spokespeople.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Strong written and verbal skills with confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders.
  • A keen sense of news in the financial services, banking and capital markets spaces.
  • An obsessive attention to detail, deep respect for journalism, appetite for reading about the markets, and curiosity to learn more about the role of banks.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise high‑volume, high‑priority initiatives in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking and presentation skills, creativity, and ability to make sound media judgement calls.
  • Enthusiastic with a ‘can do’ approach for all aspects of work.
  • Ability to work independently to execute on projects while taking direction from multiple managers in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining the firm’s high standards related to risk, compliance and its Code of Conduct.
  • Agency or in‑house media relations experience preferred, ideally supporting banking or financial services companies.
  • BA in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism preferred, but not essential.
  • Advanced understanding of media monitoring tools and comfort using technology to compile media analysis reports regularly.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Agency or in‑house media relations experience preferred, ideally supporting banking or financial services companies.
