As the Lead Designer- Design Systems within our design systems team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our design system and wider product. You will be responsible for contributing to the continued development and maintenance of our design system, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders and partners.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all products, platforms, and services.
  • Collaborate with product teams to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Apply your expertise in driving the evolution of our design system.
  • Influence direction and priorities within your team, championing customer-centricity, creativity, and high design standards.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and provide feedback to ensure alignment with our design principles.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in design systems and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Use customer insights and analytical data to inform the development of key components and design patterns.
  • Contribute to the vision to drive Design System adoption and improvements across the organisation.
  • Evangelise our Design System across the organisation, fostering collaboration between design and development teams.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Previous experience in a Design System design role - creating, contributing, and/or maintaining a Design System.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating examples of Design System deliverables (components, patterns, documentation, and guidelines for a variety of stakeholders).
  • Demonstrate an ability to think at a systems level of design and understanding of User-Centred Design and usability best practices.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements and how to implement them with designers and developers.
  • Previous experience working in mobile application or responsive web design.
  • Proficiency with Figma, Figma Variables, Token Studio, Supernova, or similar Design System tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
