Our Mission for This Role

You'll be the first voice of Educake: engaging and converting new leads into paying customers. This role exists to build pipeline, open doors, and hand well-qualified relationships over to our Account Management team to grow and retain. We're looking for someone who loves people as much as they love a well-organised pipeline. This isn't a hard sell, but it does require someone who's genuinely excited by sales, determined to hit the mark, and eager to get educators over the line to buy an Educake subscription.

As a key member of our New Schools Team, you'll take event leads and warm enquiries and guide them through the Educake journey. Every touchpoint matters: from that first conversation all the way through to conversion and handover. We play the long game here. We want more than quick wins and forgotten customers. We want educators to feel genuinely supported, to see real value in what we offer, and to become advocates for Educake within their schools and trusts.

Why This Role is Important

Sales are central to our strategy. We're growing, and this role is at the heart of that growth. But we grow the right way - through trust, through genuine conversations, and through making educators' lives easier. The person in this role will often be the first impression many schools get of Educake. That's a big deal. Every email, every demo, every follow-up call is a chance to show an educator that we genuinely care about their challenges and that we're here to help while also moving them confidently towards saying yes.

As the face of Educake, you'll need to bring passion and enthusiasm to every interaction, whether that's a quick email, a Google Meet demo, or the tail end of an eight-hour day representing us at an event with other Educake team members. We're a tight-knit team with a brilliant culture. We work hard, and we support each other. Our core values are caring, informal, efficient, and innovative. They aren't just words on a wall. They shape how we work every single day.

A Busy Role - In the Best Possible Way

This role is full-on and busy. At our peak, you will personally have approx 250+ subject trials live at once, plus demos and event leads coming through whilst simultaneously identifying, nurturing, and converting new opportunities. That's a lot to hold in your head, and it requires someone who genuinely thrives in a fast-moving, target-driven environment.

What makes the difference isn't just working hard. It's thinking smart. You'll need to build your own processes and ways of working that let you stay on top of every lead, every trial, and every follow-up without things slipping. We'll support you with HubSpot, with best practices that work, and the wider team, but the ability to think on your feet, create sensible systems, and stay agile whilst keeping every interaction meaningful (and moving towards conversion) is absolutely essential here.

If you're someone who gets energy from variety, finds satisfaction in bringing order to complexity, and gets a real buzz from closing, you'll love it here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Demos
  • Post-Demo Follow-Up
  • Event Lead Engagement
  • Lead Qualification & Nurturing
  • Converting Qualified Leads to Paying Customers
  • Handover of Well-Qualified Relationships to Account Managers
  • Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Pipeline & CRM Management
  • Occasional Representation at Events (across the UK - a driving licence is highly desirable but not essential)

Skills & Attributes

  • Is genuinely excited by sales - you enjoy the chase, and you're driven to convert, not just to chat
  • Builds relationships naturally and makes people feel genuinely heard and valued
  • Is meticulously organised. You juggle multiple leads without dropping a single one
  • Has excellent attention to detail. Your notes are clear, your CRM is tidy, and your follow-ups are timely
  • Communicates warmly and clearly, whether that's in writing, on a call, in person, or on a Google Meet
  • Takes a consultative approach - you ask great questions and listen before you recommend, then confidently guide towards a decision
  • Is a strong team player who keeps colleagues informed and works collaboratively
  • Is adaptable and proactive - you find solutions rather than problems
  • Has a genuine interest in education and in making a difference for teachers and students
  • Thrives on variety and can switch between tasks without losing momentum, detail, or drive
  • Brings energy and enthusiasm to every interaction, from a five-minute email to an eight-hour event on your feet

What Great Looks Like in This Role

The best person in this role will make every educator feel like they're the only school we're supporting while quietly, consistently converting. They'll be the kind of person who uses their brilliant organisation to remember key details, such as the HoD who said they'd review the budget in January. They'll follow up at exactly the right moment, with exactly the right message, and they won't be afraid to ask for the sale. We will provide sales training, but the excitement must be there.

You’ll keep HubSpot immaculate. Every lead will be tagged correctly, every call logged, and every next step recorded in the diary. The pipeline will tell a clear story at any given moment, and that story will show a steady flow of leads converting into paying customers and being handed off cleanly to the ACM team.

You’ll represent Educake with genuine energy at events, whether that's a short visit or a full day on a stand, and you'll bring that same passion back to the desk the next morning. You'll love what we do and why we do it, and that passion will come through in every interaction.

A Note From Us

We're a small team doing something we genuinely believe in: making formative assessment meaningful for teachers and more effective for students. We work hard, we laugh a lot, and we look after each other.

If you're the kind of person who gets a buzz from closing a deal as much as from a really good follow-up email, who colour-codes their calendar and genuinely cares about the people they work with, then we'd love to hear from you.

This is a hybrid working role based in Oxford, with an expectation that you come into the office regularly. If you're local, we'd love to see you weekly; if you're further away, we're happy to discuss exceptions. Office address: Educake Ltd, Office 1, New Barclay House, 234 Botley Rd, Oxford OX2 0HP
