Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Groundskeeper with a strong background in grounds maintenance and general maintenance tasks to join our team. As a Skilled Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our outdoor spaces. In addition to your groundskeeping expertise, you will also be expected to perform various maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and aesthetics of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- External checks: Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify and address any issues related to outdoor structures. Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months and pressure washing.
- Maintain Clean and Safe Outdoor Spaces: Ensure all external grounds, walkways, and entry areas are clean and presentable, addressing any litter, debris, or items left on the property. Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.
- Gardening: Perform routine gardening tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning to maintain the external greenery. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement improvement plans.
- Supporting with maintenance and repairs: Work with another maintenance operative to perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, repairing structures, and maintaining the Sheffield sites. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and support the lead maintenance operative on issues related to plumbing, electrical, or other general maintenance tasks.
- Adaptability: Be self-motivated and capable of working independently across multiple sites, following safety protocols and adhering to relevant regulations and procedures.
- Multi-site role: Maintain a flexible approach at all sites based in Sheffield. You are not expected to use your own vehicle as we have an electric van to get you between the sites. You will be expected to keep the vehicle in good condition and minimize wear and tear.
- Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly and efficiently to minimize disruptions at the sites within your working hours.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Groundskeeper, preferably with a focus on both groundskeeping and maintenance tasks. A strong knowledge of landscaping techniques, basic gardening, and grounds maintenance. Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment and tools and familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance. A basic understanding of general maintenance tasks such as painting, repairs, and upkeep of outdoor structures. Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions will be required along with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Relevant certifications or qualifications in groundskeeping or maintenance are a plus.

- Minimum of 2 years experience in gardening or external groundskeeping.
- Accreditation or qualifications for maintenance.
- A fully clean driving license.
