Base pay range
Location: UK remote (options for office/hybrid working available)
Annual Salary: £25,500 per annum
Contract: 12 months fixed term
Recruiters: Lydia Bowden and Hope Parkin
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (core hours 10am-2pm Monday-Friday)
You’ll be joining a passionate team of members working to create Twinkl’s online Symbols content for practitioners and parents across the UK. Twinkl Symbols aims to support children and young people with SEND and speech, language and communication difficulties. It offers an app, an online web tool and ready made, downloadable resources that use carefully designed symbols to support a child’s receptive and expressive language, provide access to the curriculum and enable them to be active participants in daily life. The majority of your time will be spent working with other Content Writers and Editors, engaging with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers.
Your Weekly Activities Could Include
- Creating new resources to support teaching and learning across the curriculum.
- Responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard.
- Checking content and providing feedback to other writers.
- Sharing knowledge with the team about how to write a variety of resources which engage learners and appeal to teachers.
- Using your own knowledge of the primary curriculum and SEND/SLCN to support the team with their resource content.
- Producing resources which respond to customer needs and current teaching methodologies.
- Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas.
- Reviewing Twinkl Symbols illustrations and sensitively providing feedback.
- Running workshops with other members of your team.
- Curating existing content on site to ensure that it is up to date and meets customers\' needs.
To Be Considered For This Role, You Must
- Hold qualified teacher status (QTS), obtained through a PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent;
- Have at least two years of full-time classroom teaching experience post-QTS;
- Be a confident and effective practitioner of the primary curriculum, with experience supporting learners with SEND and/or SLCN;
- Be an excellent communicator who thrives in a collaborative, close-knit team;
- Be able to manage your time independently and meet deadlines effectively;
- Have up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the National Curriculum;
- Be confident working across multiple IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace (G Suite);
- Have a sound understanding of the UK teaching landscape, including current pressures and trends;
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development;
- Have the permanent Right to Work in the UK;

- How to ideate and create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for children and teachers;
- How to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines;
- How to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests;
- How to apply your teaching experience to create new products, from ideation stage to publication;
- How to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems.
