This role involves editing a 5-minute documentary pilot that explores African diasporic dance and music culture in Britain.
The film combines interviews, archival footage, performance documentation, and cultural memory, and will be presented in a three-screen immersive projection environment at a leading visualisation lab.
The project is in post-production, and the editor will collaborate closely with the director to shape a compelling narrative that integrates diverse visual and audio materials.
The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and is comfortable working both remotely and in person in London during key editing stages.
- Deliverables
- Assemble and edit a 5-minute documentary pilot, integrating interviews, archival imagery, and performance footage.
- Collaborate with the director to refine narrative structure and visual storytelling.
- Prepare edits for immersive three-screen projection, ensuring technical compatibility.
- Deliver a first assembly by 16–17 June and a final version before 19 June.
- Incorporate feedback and revisions promptly.
- Ensure all deliverables meet exhibition standards for the visualisation lab.
Requirements
- Proven experience editing documentary films, especially interview-led and archive-based projects.
- Strong storytelling skills and ability to craft engaging narratives from diverse source materials.
- Familiarity with immersive or multi-screen exhibition formats is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (e. g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the director.
- Availability to work remotely and attend in-person sessions in London as needed.
- Efficient, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with arts, culture, or exhibition projects is a plus.
