Description of role:
Are you passionate about advanced manufacturing, materials engineering and innovative joining technologies? TWI is seeking an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join our Friction Welding & Processing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of industrial research, development and consultancy projects supporting customers across aerospace, defence, energy, manufacturing and transportation sectors. Working alongside internationally recognised experts, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge welding and processing technologies while helping clients solve complex engineering challenges.
What you'll be doing:
- Delivering industrial research, development and consultancy projects.
- Designing and executing experimental programmes relating to friction welding and solid state joining technologies.
- Analysing technical data and producing high quality reports and recommendations.
- Supporting client enquiries and developing innovative engineering solutions.
- Contributing to commercially funded and collaborative research programmes.
- Building strong relationships with industrial clients and research partners.
- Supporting proposal development and new business opportunities.
You will have a degree, MSc or PhD in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and experience working within engineering, manufacturing, research or technology environments. Experience in friction welding, friction stir welding, solid state joining technologies or related manufacturing processes would be highly advantageous. Strong technical and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients. A passion for innovation and engineering excellence.
Travel: This position may require regular travel in the UK.
