We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Staff to join our team and support individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients by providing personalized care and support in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Full-time shift available: Overnight shift - 6pm to 6am (This is a 12hr rotating schedule with built in overtime)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Monitor and document clients’ behaviours, progress, and any changes in condition.
  • Support clients during community outings and recreational activities.
  • Collaborate with team members, families, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment for clients and staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents at all times.
  • Cook and serve meals, following the facility menu as posted.
  • Complete items listed on the facility Chore Sheet as directed by the administrator.
  • Ensure that all residents are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Supervise all resident medication procedures and ensure that all residents receive their proper medication at the proper time.
  • Count and document all narcotics on each shift.
  • Daily chart documentation.
  • Be familiar with The Wood Group’s policy and procedures, including the employee handbook.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in behavioural health or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with IDD or in a behavioural health setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of behavioural health practices, safety protocols, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for community outings.
