We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the preconstruction and design team for a major energy infrastructure project based in Birmingham. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant scheme during its early stages, helping shape the technical delivery strategy before construction begins.

Working alongside design consultants, project managers and construction teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the project is buildable, efficient and technically robust from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preconstruction and design development of a large-scale energy project.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and design documentation for constructability and practicality.
  • Provide technical input into method statements, construction sequencing and temporary works requirements.
  • Collaborate with design teams to identify risks, clashes and value engineering opportunities.
  • Assist with site strategy planning, logistics and engineering solutions ahead of construction.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports and design feedback.
  • Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure engineering standards, safety and quality requirements are embedded in the design phase.
  • Contribute to programme development and engineering planning for future construction activities.

About You

  • Experience working as a Site Engineer, Section Engineer or similar role within infrastructure, energy, utilities or major construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles and site operations.
  • Experience reviewing or coordinating design information during preconstruction stages.
  • Ability to identify constructability issues and practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with design teams and project stakeholders.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Desirable

  • Experience on energy, utilities, power or major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of temporary works, earthworks, structures or heavy civil engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards ICE or similar professional accreditation.
