Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Sustainability Lead to join a major advanced manufacturing project in Hayes. This is an opportunity to take ownership of sustainability delivery on a high-profile construction programme, supporting project teams to achieve ambitious environmental, carbon and certification objectives.
The Role - Sustainability Lead
As Sustainability Lead, you will act as the project's sustainability subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with operational teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors, you will lead sustainability initiatives, manage certification requirements and ensure compliance with project sustainability commitments. The successful candidate will be a visible presence on site, supporting project delivery teams and driving best practice across all sustainability and environmental activities. Sustainability Leads typically oversee sustainability strategies, certification processes, site assessments and carbon reduction initiatives throughout construction projects.
Sustainability Lead - Key Responsibilities
- Lead sustainability delivery across a major construction project.
- Manage BREEAM certification requirements from design through to project completion.
- Maintain sustainability trackers, evidence registers and compliance documentation.
- Undertake site sustainability inspections and audits.
- Support project teams in achieving environmental and sustainability objectives.
- Provide technical guidance on sustainable construction and low-carbon solutions.
- Monitor sustainability KPIs and project performance.
- Support carbon reduction initiatives and Net Zero objectives.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants and subcontractors regarding sustainability requirements.
- Deliver sustainability training and awareness sessions to project teams.
- Assist with environmental management plans and sustainability reporting.
- Support planning condition compliance and project sustainability commitments.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practice across the project.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Management, ESG, Construction or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a sustainability role in construction or the built environment.
- Demonstrable BREEAM delivery experience (essential).
- Experience managing sustainability compliance and certification requirements.
- Strong understanding of sustainable construction practices.
- Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and sustainability reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work full-time on site.
Desirable
- BREEAM AP qualification.
- LEED AP accreditation.
- OneClick LCA experience.
- PAS 2080 experience.
- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor qualification.
- IEMA membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience within Data Centres, Manufacturing, Industrial or Pharmaceutical construction projects.
