The Opportunity
As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of major hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects across London. Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Senior Project Manager will take full responsibility for delivering complex construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handover, ensuring programme, commercial, quality and safety objectives are consistently achieved.
The successful Senior Project Manager will provide leadership across multidisciplinary project teams, building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders while driving exceptional project performance. This role is ideally suited to a Senior Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering major London data centre projects for a principal contractor or specialist mission-critical contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of large-scale data centre projects across London.
- Take full ownership of projects from mobilisation through to practical completion and client handover.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, commercial performance and overall project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including Construction Managers, Site Managers, Commercial Managers, Design Managers, Planners, Commissioning Managers and Quality teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, opportunities and programme challenges.
- Chair client meetings, progress meetings and internal project reviews.
- Oversee procurement strategies and ensure critical work packages are delivered in line with programme.
- Manage contractual obligations, change control and commercial performance.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager on major mission-critical or data centre developments.
- Experience working for a principal contractor or specialist data centre contractor.
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.
- Strong understanding of CSA and MEP project delivery.
- Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and change control.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and Design & Build contracts.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Excellent programme management and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered status (MCIOB, MAPM, RICS or equivalent).
- Experience delivering hyperscale or mission-critical data centre projects.
- SMSTS, CSCS Black Card and First Aid qualifications.
