An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing project delivery team working on major energy, decarbonisation and net zero programmes across the UK.
This role offers the chance to take commercial ownership of complex projects from early development through to final account, working closely with project, engineering and design teams to deliver technically challenging schemes that make a genuine contribution to the UK's transition towards a lower‑carbon future.
Based from the Leeds office with hybrid working available, you'll play a key role in managing commercial performance across a varied portfolio of projects while building long‑term relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial leadership across multiple projects, ensuring robust cost management, contractual compliance and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you will help maximise project profitability whilst proactively identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Take commercial ownership of projects from pre‑construction through to final account.
- Administer NEC contracts, ensuring contractual compliance and effective change management.
- Prepare, review and negotiate subcontract packages and appointments.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, variations and compensation events.
- Produce accurate cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Monitor project budgets and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Design teams to support successful project delivery.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Support procurement activities, subcontract management and commercial negotiations.
- Contribute to monthly commercial reporting and business performance reviews.
- Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and commercial proposals where required.
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members where appropriate.
About You
We're looking for an experienced commercial professional who enjoys working collaboratively within technically focused project teams.
You will ideally have
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering, infrastructure or energy projects.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and complex change control.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Good analytical and reporting skills with a proactive approach to commercial management.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (preferred).
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
