Our client, a leading M&E contractor, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of major decarbonisation and Net Zero programmes across several large NHS Hospital Trusts in London. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of sustainable engineering, delivering complex M&E projects valued up to £50 million. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping healthcare estates transition towards Net Zero through the delivery of innovative energy and infrastructure solutions.

The Role:

  • Reporting to the Regional Director, you will take full responsibility for the strategic leadership and delivery of a portfolio of high-value M&E and energy projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Working closely with NHS Trusts, consultants, design teams, and internal stakeholders, you will oversee every stage of project delivery, from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership across multiple M&E projects with values up to £50 million.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver complex decarbonisation and energy infrastructure programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS Trusts, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive project performance across programme, commercial, quality, and health & safety objectives.
  • Oversee project planning, procurement, design coordination, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Manage project risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to future project opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop senior project teams, promoting collaboration and high performance.
  • Ensure projects meet sustainability, energy efficiency, and Net Zero objectives.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Project Director, Operations Manager, or Senior Project Manager within the M&E or building services sector.
  • A strong track record of delivering major M&E projects valued up to £50 million.
  • Previous experience working on healthcare, hospital, public sector, or complex live environments.
  • Experience delivering decarbonisation, energy infrastructure, or Net Zero projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, including NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
