About R/GA

R/GA is a global creative innovation company that designs more valuable experiences for people and brands. At R/GA, change is a feature, not a bug. This mindset has allowed us to continuously reinvent ourselves—from a pioneering film title studio to a cutting-edge digital marketing company. What sets us apart is our commitment to technology innovation—revolutionizing not just the work we do, but how we do it. We are embarking on yet another transformation as we define the new model of what a creative innovation company can be in the intelligence age. One thing that never changes is our commitment to solving our clients’ most complex challenges. We are skilled at building brands across channels and platforms at scale. We craft experiences that build meaningful relationships and drive sustainable growth. You’ll be part of an intersectional team that embraces collaboration, values curiosity, and challenges convention.

About the Role

Our Brand Design and Consulting team combines business, brand, and technology expertise to create a new type of consulting framework. We focus on helping companies leverage modern technology to create new business models and brand strategies for growth. While copywriting focuses on crafting individual expressions, Verbal Design defines the systems that guide how a brand uses language across every touchpoint. As a Verbal Designer, you’ll partner closely with Visual Designers, Experience Designers, and Strategists. Together, you will apply strategic and creative thinking to shape the systems behind a brand’s voice and language across a diverse range of projects and brands.

Here’s what you should know if you want to be a Verbal Designer at R/GA:

  • Push strategic and creative points of view forward on brand character, brand voice, and messaging.
  • Write compelling, adaptable copy across a variety of touchpoints, channels, and audiences while shaping how that language scales across a broader verbal system.
  • Draft foundational brand elements, including manifestos, vision statements, and comprehensive voice guidelines.
  • Craft actionable direction that empowers other writers to generate on-brand copy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to sharpen ideas and enhance and strengthen brand and experience work.
  • Present your work confidently and clearly to internal teams and clients.
  • Contribute to holistic thinking about brand design, ensuring a brand's language aligns seamlessly with how it acts, looks, and lives in the world.
  • Explore new tools and workflows, helping to evolve the Verbal Design discipline at R/GA.

The Ideal Person

  • Has a passion for transformative ideas and a desire to help shape brands that leave a positive impact on the world.
  • Can clearly define and articulate the tactical choices a writer makes to achieve a specific tone or style.
  • Is open to applying strategic thinking across systems, experiences, and touchpoints beyond traditional copywriting.
  • Is curious about new tools and technologies shaping how language is created, adapted, and experienced.
  • Is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys experimenting, iterating, and bringing new concepts to life collaboratively.

You bring

  • 2+ years of experience in brand writing, copywriting, content strategy, or a related field.
  • Excellent strategic and creative writing skills, with a portfolio demonstrating versatile brand voices.
  • Familiarity with modern collaborative tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Keynote, Figma).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience writing for or training conversational interfaces, chatbots, or digital products.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering or integrating generative AI tools into your creative workflow.
  • A background or keen interest in UX writing and how language shapes user experience.
