Mid-Level Creative. Social
Company: VML
Hybrid working: Working from home / Sea Containers office, London, SE1
The Role: Social Creative (Mid-Level)
We are looking for a Social Creative who doesn’t just “do social” — but genuinely lives and breathes it. This role is for someone who is deeply immersed in social platforms, internet culture, creators, trends, and the fast-moving nature of how people actually engage online. You instinctively understand what works on social, what gets ignored, and what earns attention. You’ll be responsible for generating bold, social-first ideas and turning them into content that feels native to each platform — not adapted for social, but made for it from the start. You’ll work closely with strategists, designers, account teams, and producers to help bring ideas to life across a high-profile client account, contributing to work that runs across always-on content, campaigns, and real-time cultural moments.
Key Responsibilities
- Social-First Ideation
- Develop ideas that are born in social, not adapted into it
- Turn strategy and insight into culturally relevant, platform-native creative
- Bring strong, opinionated thinking into brainstorms and creative development
- Platform-Native Thinking
- Deep understanding of how content behaves differently across TikTok, Instagram, X, and emerging platforms
- Constant awareness of trends, creators, formats, memes, and cultural shifts
- Proactively bring ideas for how brands can show up in culture in real time
- Content Creation & Craft
- Develop strong social concepts across copy, visual direction, and content ideas
- Collaborate with design, motion, and production teams to bring ideas to life
- Ensure work feels native, relevant, and engaging on every platform
- Collaboration & Agility
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
- Respond quickly to feedback and evolve ideas at pace
- Contribute to always-on content and reactive opportunities
- Executional Standards
- Maintain a high standard of creative craft across all social outputs
- Ensure ideas are clear, sharp, and culturally relevant
- Support delivery of content calendars and campaign rollouts
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Live and breathe social media, internet culture, and digital creativity
- Have experience in a creative, social, content, or digital role (agency or in-house)
- Be naturally ideas-led and confident contributing creatively in fast-paced discussions
- Understand what makes content native to platforms, not just formatted for them
- Be highly tuned into trends, creators, and cultural moments in real time
- Have a portfolio that demonstrates social-first thinking (ideas, content, campaigns, or storytelling)
- Be excited by experimentation, speed, and constant evolution
Desirable (but not essential)
- Agency experience working specifically on social-first or integrated digital campaigns
- Hands-on experience creating or shaping content for TikTok, Instagram, or emerging platforms
- Understanding of design, motion, or content production workflows
What's in it for you?
Aside from a generous annual leave allowance and pension allowances, you will have access to a whole host of other benefits and activities such as:
- Life Assurance
- Permanent Health Insurance
- BUPA
- Flexible hybrid-working schedule
- Enhanced family friendly policies
- Well-being Programme
- Employee Assistance Support
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Eye Care and Glasses Vouchers
- Season Ticket Loans
- WPP Discounts
You will also have a clear long-term career development plan and access to our learning and development activities and online learning platforms.
