This role is not entry‑level. As a Medical Writer, you will contribute to day‑to‑day project delivery within an account, creating outstanding medical content across a variety of therapy areas. You should be a proactive communicator with a passion for science, an interest in AI, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities- Scientific knowledge: Good understanding of assigned therapeutic areas. Effectively analyses and interprets scientific data for assigned projects.
- Strategic knowledge: Understand the medical affairs and commercial spaces of clients. Review literature and competitive information to expand understanding of brand and market, and share findings with teams. Participate in meetings and strategic discussions with clients, authors, and advisors.
- AI: Use AI tools efficiently to support tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Seek new opportunities to apply AI tools to improve workflow and task management.
- Project ownership: Take responsibility for day‑to‑day delivery of scientific content under supervision of senior writers. Ensure communication objectives are met on assigned projects.
- Editorial: Adapt writing style for different audiences (e.g., physicians, nurses, patients). Structure and write commercially focused or complex materials such as story flows, strategic frameworks, competitor intelligence, and advisory board reports under supervision.
- Quality control: Reference all work appropriately and provide a full reference pack. Tag all work appropriately on VVPM. Adhere to ABPI code of conduct and good practice guidelines under supervision.
- On‑site work: Attend events and interact with clients and faculty to develop and finalize content.
- Client liaison: Have client contact for straightforward content projects and elevate queries when necessary.
- Project management: Adhere to project schedules and briefs. Understand key dates and keep the account team updated on status. Proactively clarify project status versus available hours. Participate in tracking of deliverables and impact of out‑of‑scope changes. Adhere to budgets or provide reasons for deviations.
- Teamwork: Train and mentor junior writers on writing and company processes.
- Strong scientific background; degree in a scientific or medical discipline (post‑graduate preferred) and high academic achievement.
- Passion for and profound understanding of healthcare, science, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry; keen interest in AI technologies.
- Personable, articulate, and detail‑oriented.
- Previous experience as a medical writer at an agency or within a pharmaceutical organization.
