Real Chemistry is hiring a Medical Director to lead the development of cutting‑edge, high‑impact scientific content that elevates medical education and advances patient outcomes. This hybrid role can be based in any of our US offices—New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Carmel (IN), or Lambertville (NJ)—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee a team of several medical writers within assigned therapeutic areas and client accounts; foster a collaborative and supportive team culture focused on high standards, accountability, and continuous learning to elevate scientific quality, strategic thinking, and project ownership across the team.
- Review and revise all medical content to ensure strategic integrity, scientific accuracy, and quality execution of deliverables in alignment with client objectives.
- Consult and serve as a partner with clients in the development of various medical strategies and in the design and analysis of related medical communication tactics and deliverables.
- Drive and shape contributions to strategic planning initiatives and tactical ideation on assigned client accounts.
- Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific accuracy, consistency, and compliance with client guidelines and industry regulations.
- Understand project scopes and statuses and partner with account/project leads to ensure accurate budgeting, timely resourcing, and effective communication within cross‑functional teams.
- Support senior medical and operations leaders by providing input into staffing needs, workload balance, and process improvements within assigned accounts.
- Contribute to business growth by identifying organic growth opportunities, supporting business development proposals, and participating in client pitches.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned—duties and responsibilities may relate to business development, departmental or agency‑wide initiatives, and more.

What you should have:
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare communications within an agency, with a demonstrated track record of developing high‑quality deliverables.
- Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or a related discipline (PhD, MD, or PharmD preferred).
- Experience in chronic inflammatory disease is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive scientific narratives tailored to diverse audiences, including primary care physicians and specialists.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines across diverse accounts, maintaining high‑quality standards under pressure.
- Demonstrated track record of leading and developing highly effective teams of medical writers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat as well as familiarity with online proofing platforms (e.g., Workfront Proof, Ziflow) and Veeva Vault.
- Proficiency with AI tools and resources to facilitate research and develop content in an efficient and responsible manner.
Pay Range: $130,000.00–140,000.00. This is the pay range the company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Compensation will be determined based on job‑related, non‑discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location. The company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
