Grey’s mission is to create Famously Effective ideas that move people, businesses, and the world forward, harnessing the power of creativity to solve business challenges and drive growth for some of the world’s most influential brands and companies. We are seeking an adaptable, proactive Management Accountant to join Grey London on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role is a vital addition to our Finance team, taking ownership of core monthly accounting deliverables, financial control, and studio business partnering through a busy reporting period.

In this role, you will work closely with London-based commercial and agency teams, senior finance leaders, WPP’s FinancePlus division, and group finance contacts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management Accounts Preparation: Independently prepare and review monthly management accounts, including general ledger account reviews, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and posting manual journals (accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, and cost allocations).
  • Core Systems & Workday Adoption: Utilise Workday as the agency’s core finance system - navigating early-stage adoption workflows, refining day-to-day reporting routines, and helping guide commercial agency teams on system processes and queries.
  • WPP Group Reporting Submissions: Ensure timely upload and reporting of monthly and quarterly financial packages into WPP Group reporting tools.
  • SOX Compliance & Audit Trail: Maintain a strict SOX-compliant control environment, reviewing month-end actuals and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure sufficient supporting documentation and a clear audit trail for internal and external audits.
  • Revenue & Intercompany Workstreams: Maintain revenue trackers and attribution schedules across creative workstreams, manage intercompany purchase orders, and resolve intercompany mismatches across the WPP network.
  • Budgeting & Reforecasting Support: Assist the Financial Controller with quarterly reforecasting cycles, rolling forecasts, and annual budget preparation.
  • Agency Business Partnering: Act as an approachable finance ambassador and primary contact for agency teams, managing query inboxes and supporting project leads and producers with day-to-day finance questions.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 4+ years of experience in a finance function, preferably within an agency environment (advertising, media, marketing services) or creative project-based setup.
  • Qualification: ACCA, CIMA, or ACA part-qualified or qualified (or equivalent).
  • Systems & Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Workday (or similar major enterprise ERP platforms), with a confident, adaptable mindset toward navigating early-stage system workflows. Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, lookups, data analysis) are essential.
  • WPP & Shared Services Awareness: Previous experience working alongside financial shared service models, and corporate reporting packages is a strong advantage.
  • Financial Controls & SOX: Strong grounding in internal controls, general ledger maintenance, balance sheet integrity, and SOX environment compliance.
  • Communication & Versatility: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts clearly for non-finance agency colleagues, and able to assist team members during peak reporting windows.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Self-motivated and dependable; you take clear responsibility for your workload, deliver under pressure, and consistently meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Comfortable navigating evolving processes and system workflows with positivity, curiosity, and initiative.
  • Approachable and proactive in helping non-finance creative stakeholders navigate financial queries smoothly.
  • Thorough and precise, maintaining high standards of data accuracy, ledger health, and complete audit documentation.
  • Happy to lend a hand across wider finance tasks during busy periods and team absences to support the overall studio.
