We're looking for a Commercial Director to join our team as a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving all commercial activity and overseeing both the sales and marketing functions to drive revenue, brand visibility and business growth. You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of key strategies for the business, identifying strategic opportunities for growth and income generation. Reporting to the Founder & Managing Director, the responsibilities of the Commercial Director include:
- Set the new business strategy for the business for sponsorship, client events, platform sales and any other opportunities identified as areas for potential growth.
- Prepare and deliver proposals and pitches for new business.
- Work with the Founder to identify and exploit new revenue streams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing sponsors through regular communication, meetings, and networking events, working to grow sponsorship for the Don't Panic event portfolio.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to identify strategic partnership opportunities, to increase exposure and drive growth across the various awards verticals.
- Oversee the marketing department, working with the Marketing Manager to support on marketing strategy, campaigns and deliverables, ensuring these align with the business's brand and commercial goals.
- Oversee the sales department, supporting on sales strategy and processes to drive conversion and support the team to achieve pre-agreed event targets.
- Ensure both the sales and marketing teams are working cohesively.
- Provide reports as required for the board on performance and progress towards annual revenue targets and forecasts.
- Work with the Finance Manager to set team targets, marketing budgets and new business pricing.
- Work with the Head of Events to maximise event profitability, improve commissions and spot additional revenue opportunities across our portfolio of events.
- Attend events and other key digital marketing events to network and build relationships, to aid growth and maximise sales as well as promote our owned awards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
- Attend our events as and when appropriate, both within the UK and internationally.
- Maintain an understanding of industry trends and competitor activity to inform internal decisions.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior commercial role, within the agency space.
- Previous experience in events or media sales is desirable.
- Strong senior level leadership experience.
- A high level of experience leading sales and marketing teams.
- A strong network within the digital industry is desirable.
- Proven negotiating skills.
- Ability to develop professional relationships in all aspects of the position.
- The ability to multi-task across numerous projects with varied deadlines.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to present and pitch new business.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- A strong strategic mindset.
- The ability to manage KPIs and produce sales and marketing reports.
- Willing to travel with flexibility around working hours.
- Experience using a CRM system, preferably HubSpot.
