About the role
Working within the Design Development function at the Nottingham hub, the primary role of Senior Technical Designer is to produce and develop designs supplied by our creative team and ensure they are suitably prepared for our artwork teams. The role will drive efficiency through systems, processes, house styles and technology to support all internal stakeholders. The role is key to enable the smooth transition of the design following creative sign-off to the artwork team. A high degree of knowledge and a problem‑solving mentality is required to overcome any ‘bumps in the road’ along this journey. Reporting directly to the Design Team Leader and will be required to fulfil their duties in the DTL’s absence.
What you will be doing
- To ensure accuracy and validity of designs with respect to relevant templates
- Become expert in the client brand and associated collateral to support
- Efficient in the enabling technologies and produce work to respond to client briefs
- Share knowledge of templates with Design and Artwork teams and coach relevant teams in the effective use of the templates
- Ensure work is accurate and meets timescales and deadlines
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders
- To be client facing as and when required
- To liaise with repro and print houses where necessary
- Working in a team of c50
What you need to be great in this role
- Excellent engagement skills with the ability to proactively organise and influence other team members and build strong and positive working relationships
- Substantial experience across all aspects of the creative and production process gained in agency, production and client side environments; ideally in dynamic, complex and high volume situations (typically 5yrs+)
- Creative ability with strong Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Experience in the retail sector
- 3+ years of relevant experience in design development for POS
- An interest in digital design and motion graphics
- Strong people and relationship management skills in a service‑oriented environment together with an understanding of corporate cultures, structures and behaviours
- Be a strong role model and an ambassador for Design Development
