Overall Purpose
We are seeking a Director of Media to serve as the strategic orchestrator for our clients’ performance marketing accounts. In this leadership role, you will develop and oversee cross‑channel media audits, build growth models and forecasts, and ensure all aspects of performance marketing (media, creative, data, technology) work in unison to drive profitable growth for our clients. You will act as a senior advisor both internally and to clients – providing insight and direction on paid media campaigns, creative feedback, investment allocation, and optimization opportunities. This role is critical in guiding DTC and Fortune 500 brands alike to achieve aggressive growth targets and is ideal for a hands‑on practitioner with deep performance media experience who thrives in a bold, fast‑paced agency environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Execute Core Consulting Projects:
- Data Translation: Understanding content and media performance and translating that into actionable insights for all departments to act on.
- Performance Audits: Conduct deep, technical audits of paid media accounts (across all digital platforms) to identify areas of inefficiency and opportunity.
- Commercial & Operational Audits: Analyze client‑side organizational structures, workflows, and tech stacks to recommend new models for speed and effectiveness.
- Paid Creative Audits: Go beyond standard media metrics to analyze creative performance, bridging the gap between media and creative teams with actionable, platform‑specific insights.
- Growth Architecture: Develop comprehensive, full‑funnel media strategies and growth models for clients looking to scale.
- Act as a Strategic Advisor: Serve as the "tip of the spear" for key consulting clients, building trust and providing authoritative guidance to senior stakeholders on media, creative, and business strategy.
- Drive Media Innovation: Contribute to a culture of innovation, identifying new platforms, ad formats, and measurement techniques, and developing POVs and testing frameworks.
- Develop Internal Thought Leadership: Play a key role in developing and disseminating internal strategic resources, including a monthly newsletter, and help package new methodologies and insights.
- Synthesize & Present: Translate complex data analysis, platform nuances, and strategic concepts into simple, powerful, and actionable recommendations. You must be an expert in building and delivering C‑suite level presentations.
Experience / Knowledge Required
- 7+ years of experience in paid media, performance marketing, or growth strategy, with a demonstrable track record of driving measurable business results (agency or client‑side).
- Deep Technical Prowess: Hands‑on expertise across the ad‑tech ecosystem (e.g., Meta, Google, TikTok, Programmatic, CTV, Retail Media).
- 360‑Degree Marketing Knowledge: Proven ability to connect the dots between media and creative. Comfortable giving feedback on a TikTok video as well as analyzing a media mix model.
- Owner’s Mindset: Highly autonomous self‑starter who thrives with minimal supervision. Experience running your own business, a P&L, or a high‑growth startup is a significant plus.
- Insatiable Curiosity: Genuine passion for performance marketing and a habit of digging into new platforms, technologies, and consumer behaviors before they become mainstream.
- Consulting & Analytical Excellence: Experience in a consulting or strategic planning role; exceptional analytical skills with mastery of data analysis, cohort analysis, and media forecasting.
- Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to command a room, build consensus, and articulate complex ideas with clarity to C‑suite audiences.
- Flexible & Resilient: Adaptable attitude, comfortable with ambiguity and the high‑speed, high‑expectation environment of a modern agency.
