Main Purpose of the Role

R/GA is seeking a confident and motivated individual who is interested in achieving best in class results in a very dynamic environment. This Commercial Manager will be a true business partner, working with the Client leads on the overall revenue position of the Australia business. This position is a member of the Finance team and reports to the Executive Director, Finance & Operations, APAC.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering and Support
    • Proactively provide financial context and analysis as required to support client related decision making, aligning with the wider business strategy and ensuring financial success.
    • Oversee and manage client margin analysis and reporting, actively identifying and investigating areas for margin improvement.
    • Review and advise on business Investment Requests.
    • Drive operational efficiencies in partnership with Talent Management and other executives, including managing freelance budgets.
    • Drive business performance efficiencies in partnership with Client Leads.
    • Lead and facilitate client negotiations including meeting with clients or procurement representatives, as required.
    • Assist in pitch and new business development including proposing pricing options, coordinating contract reviews and joining client presentations as required.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Ensure correct revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP guidelines, in partnership with R/GA Controller team.
    • Ensure contractual coverage for work – monitor missing SOWs and POs with support from local finance team.
    • Support the local finance, Production and Client Service teams to manage forecasts, monitor client profitability and project burns.
  • Maintenance of Accounts and Controllership
    • Oversee all other Client Finance aspects with the team, including but not limited to: Job Detail Review, tracking and reconciliations. Reviewing client team forecasting and compliance to ensure accuracy.
    • Job Requests/closings, transfers, write offs.
    • Accounts Receivable – ensure timely invoicing and managing aged debtors.
    • Accounts Payable – managing production vendors in accordance with policy and ensuring timely payments.
  • Other
    • Have a collaborative and supportive approach, providing guidance and assistance on technical matters when required.
    • Additional related responsibilities and ad hoc reporting as required based on the evolving needs of the agency.

Characteristics and Technical Skills

  • Characteristics
    • Self-Motivated individual who likes challenges and can work well with others.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence to work with and build relationships with the Australia business leads.
    • Collaborative approach working with wider stakeholders including producers, account leads, clients and other senior team members.
    • Client finance experience a plus – client profitability, agency production accounting and billing or third party billing.
    • Attention to detail and willing to work through and solve business problems.
    • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Technical Skills
    • Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or relevant local body.
    • Googledocs – Advanced Googlesheet skills and intermediate Googledocs required.
    • Knowledge/experience with NetSuite or experience in integrated service field financial systems.
