The Business Affairs Manager will work with Producers, Legal, Project Management and the SVP, Global Business Affairs on overseeing content production, including broadcast, social, digital projects across clients in all of our offices. This person is a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and able to work in a fast‑paced creative environment. This role requires an intermediate level of experience, moving beyond administrative support to independently owning production workflows, talent negotiations, and risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help administer Talent Agreements, Materials Releases, Location Releases, Minor Employment Forms, Music license agreements.
  • Issue talent contracts, session reports and completion reports.
  • Pay session, holding fees, usage in compliance with SAG/AFTRA/ACTRA when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Extreme Reach (or other client‑preferred paymaster), as applicable for all talent payment.
  • Handle union and non‑union inquiries pertaining to talent.
  • Negotiate talent rates with agents and/or talent for specific projects.
  • Forecast talent reuse on projects as needed.
  • Research to find appropriate rights holders and contact information.
  • Manage intellectual property rights and clearance acquisitions (including tracking any term limitations and advising Client teams regarding upcoming expirations).
  • Attend meetings pertaining to production to help ensure the viability of a concept.
  • Review creative materials (concepts, storyboard, various cuts) and advise Agency teams on talent, copyright and intellectual property issues, determine where clearances are necessary, and advise on next steps.
  • Review creative materials and advise and assess risk based on agency’s social media guidelines.
  • Work closely with Producers in all business aspects of production.
  • Work with Agency legal counsel on issues including active contracts, updating releases, contract templates, risk assessment and indemnifications.
Requirements
  • A minimum 4‑7 years of experience as a Business Manager at a creative advertising agency.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAGAFTRA and non‑union talent contracts.
  • Knowledge of music licensing, stock footage licensing and intellectual property licensing for broadcast and interactive media.
  • Solid knowledge of TV production and post‑production process.
  • Working knowledge of AICP & AICE bid forms, production procedures and issues.
  • Exceptional written, negotiation and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional initiative, meticulous attention to detail and follow through skills.
  • A true, team player that enjoys working collaboratively, as well as independently.
