Role & Responsibilities

DSP is looking for an experienced SQL Server DBA with proven SQL Azure skills to join our team.

This role will be within our managed services team delivering both support and project-based work for our customers.

The role will be home based with occasional visits to customer sites or DSP offices.

Existing Microsoft certifications are an advantage but with DSP’s position as a leading UK Gold Partner these can easily be picked up on the job.

Essential Experience

  • SQL Server Database experience, with involvement in some or all the following areas:
  • SQL Operations and Troubleshooting.
  • SQL Performance Tuning.
  • SQL Design and Implementation.
  • SQL High Availability.

Consulting services experience i. e., the direct provision of technical thought leadership and services to external teams, stakeholders or customers with involvement in some or all the following areas: operation and troubleshooting including health checks and performance improvements, system architecture, design and implementation, modernisation and consolidations.

  • Primary Technical Skills – DBA
  • The ideal candidate will have gained the majority of the following skills over 7 years +:
  • SQL Server Relational Database Engine Database administration from SQL 2008 to 2022.
  • Microsoft Azure implementation and support.
  • Disaster recovery including log shipping, Mirroring, FCI and Availability Groups.
  • Architecture, design and implementation of highly available database solutions (OLTP).
  • Experience of transactional replication.
  • Database & Application performance tuning.
  • Understanding and application of database design techniques.
  • Transact-SQL programming skills.
  • Reporting Services (SSRS) installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Analysis Services (SSAS) installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Basic understanding of Networks, Windows OS and core services like Active Directory, DNS.
  • Appreciation for Hardware components.
  • Secondary Technical Skills – Business Intelligence.
  • Data manipulation and Extract Transform and Load (ETL) using SQL Server Integration Services, Transact-SQL code and other techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server development tools (Management Studio and SQL Server Data Tools).
