Overview: As an experienced veterinary surgeon and leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional clinic performance, overseeing clinical, financial, and people-focused outcomes. You’ll be passionate about our mission and model, consistently promoting these values to your team and clients. Within this framework, you’ll have the autonomy to lead your clinic while being supported and guided by the leadership team at Creature Comforts. Your direct reports will include the vet team, Nursing Director, and Practice Director.

Main Purpose & Goals:

  • Clinical Excellence: Lead your team to deliver top-tier clinical care through strong leadership and engagement.
  • Business Performance: Drive membership and client acquisition, direct clinic strategy, manage budgets, and ensure the overall success of the clinic.
  • Leadership: Provide excellent veterinary leadership by directing and supporting your team and maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Wellbeing: Be an advocate for Creature Comforts in the veterinary industry and beyond, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Excellence: Lead clinical delivery, spending 80% of your time in clinical work. Enable all team members to maximise their qualifications and ensure excellent teamwork. Maintain clinical governance, address performance issues, and implement improvement plans. Commit to evidence-based medicine, lead by example, and oversee clinical audits and education within the team.
  • Business Performance: Focus on membership and client acquisition, working closely with the team to achieve targets. Direct the clinic’s strategy, ensuring health & safety policies are understood and implemented. Engage with marketing strategies and provide an outstanding client experience, ensuring all communication is clear and empathetic. Oversee budget planning and financial performance, working within allocated budgets to achieve financial targets.
  • Leadership of Practice & Team: Serve as the clinic’s figurehead, leading by example and supporting the clinical team. Line manage the Practice Director and Nursing Director, conducting regular one-to-ones and performance reviews. Promote effective communication through regular team meetings and information sharing.
  • Wellbeing: Foster a culture of respect and inclusion, recognising the importance of well-being for the whole team. Address issues early, working with your line manager to find solutions, and maintain an honest and open culture.
  • Advocate for Creature Comforts: Promote the ethos of Creature Comforts within the veterinary industry and the local community. Encourage team involvement in community events, like dog shows or school visits, and always represent Creature Comforts with pride.
