This role is for engineers who want to scale something that already matters. If you’ve taken a backend platform from "this works" to "this needs to handle 10× more traffic, customers, and data without falling over" and you’re looking to do that again, with more ownership and fewer layers, this is that role. You’ll be shaping the core infrastructure of a product that already processes millions of sensitive financial documents, is used daily to make real financial decisions, and is growing faster than the systems it was originally built on.
The Company A YC hyper scaler building AI native infrastructure for financial workflows. Powering underwriting, funding, and insurance decisions for brokers, insurers, and fintechs across the US and UK. This is production infrastructure embedded directly into customer workflows.
Why This Is Different
Financial services still rely on PDFs, emails, spreadsheets, and manual review, despite the scale, sensitivity, and consequences of the decisions involved. Embedding AI directly into live production systems: document ingestion, data extraction, workflow orchestration, and decisioning. These systems are already trusted by customers and are onboarding faster than ever. The challenge now isn’t finding product-market fit, it’s building the foundations to support the next journey of their growth.
The Challenge You’ll Own
The backend was built for speed-to-market. Now it needs to be rebuilt for scale. That means solving problems like:
- Backend patterns that let a 10 person engineering team ship confidently without breaking existing customers.
- Multi-tenancy at scale, enabling 100's of customers to use their product whilst ensuring security and cloud infrastructure is focused.
- Processing bank statements, tax returns, and other financial documents at massive throughput, with ML pipelines that must be fast, accurate, and reliable.
The Role
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy individual contributor role. You’ll work directly with the CTO, and the Head of Engineering, with real ownership over the systems that matter most.
