Twenty4Seven Education is seeking a full-time qualified, knowledgeable and methodical Chemistry Teacher for a reputable and excellent all-girls Grammar School in Tonbridge, Kent. You will be starting ASAP teaching KS4-KS5 pupils on a fixed term contract covering a maternity leave. You will also be required to be a Form Tutor to an assigned group of students. You will need to promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of the Tutor Group and liaise with the Pastoral Leader to ensure the implementation of the school’s support system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions.
  • Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
  • Prepare and update subject materials.
  • Plan and teach well-structured differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum and the school’s curriculum policy.
  • Use a variety of delivery methods that will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the syllabus.
  • Assess, record, and report on the attendance, progress, development, and attainment of students.
  • Give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy and encourage good practice regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment following the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Deploy any support staff effectively.
  • Take responsibility for improving teaching through appropriate professional development, responding to advice and feedback from colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals about pupils’ achievements and well-being.

Must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 12 months of experience).
  • Excellent subject knowledge.
  • Child DBS check on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2024) document.
  • Excellent classroom management.
  • Good communication skills.
