The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils build strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, while supporting wider learning across the curriculum. You will help promote active learning, retrieval practice and independent thinking, ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Guided by teaching staff, you will contribute to a stimulating environment where children feel motivated, curious and confident. You will support pupils of different ages and abilities, including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working closely with the SEND team, you will help to remove barriers to learning and ensure every child feels valued and supported. Promoting inclusion, championing equality of opportunity and celebrating each child's strengths will be central to your approach.
Ideal candidate
- Commitment to safeguarding in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) statutory guidance
- At least 3 months experience as a Teaching Assistant in a school or similar setting
- Level 2+ Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- GCSEs C/4 or above in English and Maths
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
- A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting learning
- Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills
