HLTA – Ramsgate – January ** Location: Ramsgate ** Start: January ** School: Secondary School (SEND Department) ** Pay rate: £100-£115 Twenty4Seven Education is seeking to appoint a skilful, passionate, patient and dynamic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within the SEND Department at a ‘Good’ Ofsted-rated Secondary School in Ramsgate, Kent. This exciting full-time role starts in January on an ongoing basis. You will be supporting pupils aged 11-18 who struggle to attend school because of Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). You will contribute to improving the attendance of students who are struggling with mental health issues, particularly anxiety. You will raise student achievement through effective support and liaising with parents/carers, SENCO, Attendance Lead, class teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals, to create bespoke strategies to encourage greater engagement with learning. Duties and responsibilities: * Promote the safety and well-being of pupils, and help to safeguard pupils’ well-being by following the requirements of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the school’s child protection policy * To work with identified children to help overcome barriers to learning related to anxiety, building confidence and resilience by facilitating access to learning * To plan, develop and deliver learning activities with a focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) aspects of learning and responding to individual children’s needs * Demonstrate excellent teaching skills providing cover for PPA sessions and absent teachers when required * Monitor, record and report on pupil performance and progress * To establish productive empathetic relationships with children * Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy * Communicate effectively with pupils supporting them with their emotional literacy * Provide feedback on student progress, attainment and barriers to learning to school staff, education, health and social care professionals and parents/carers * Help keep your knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on your own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness Qualifications & Experience: * Right to work in the UK * Satisfactory references covering the last 2 years * Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or willing to pay and apply for a new one (Twenty4Seven Education can assist you with this process) * GCSE English and Mathematics to Grade C+ (or equivalent) is essential * Higher Level Teacher Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable * Experience working with children within an educational setting or similar (minimum of 3 months of experience) * Good understanding of the impact of SEMH needs on learning and development is essential * Good Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills The Benefits of Twenty4Seven Education: * T4S is an accredited REC member * 24/7 support from your designated dedicated and friendly consultant * Competitive pay rates * £100 Refer-a-Friend Scheme (terms & conditions apply) * FREE online safeguarding training course * FREE online professional development training from our Education Support team Twenty4Seven Education is dedicated to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
