Roles and Responsibilities:
- Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
- Teach engaging, literature-rich lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable)
- Inspire a deep appreciation of reading, writing and critical thinking
- Use creative strategies to bring classic and contemporary texts to life
- Use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify next steps and adapt teaching accordingly
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for every student
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management and high expectations in line with the school’s behaviour policy
- Uphold professional standards and a commitment to ongoing reflection and improvement
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)
- Proven experience teaching English at secondary level following the National Curriculum
- Right to Work in the UK (No Limitations)
- Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Child Workforce listed)
- Teaching reference checks covering the last 2 years
