We are currently seeking a committed and proactive Attendance Officer to join a supportive All-Through School in Coventry on a full-time, long-term basis, starting as soon as possible. This is a key role within the School, supporting student engagement, safeguarding and overall attendance improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
- Monitoring and analysing daily attendance data
- Following up on absences promptly and effectively
- Conducting home visits to support families and address attendance concerns
- Working closely with pastoral staff, safeguarding leads and senior leaders
- Maintaining accurate records and reports in line with school and local authority expectations
- Building positive relationships with students, parents and external agencies
- This is a school-based role, requiring a professional, confident approach and a strong understanding of the importance of attendance in student outcomes
Ideal Candidate:
- Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)
- Previous experience working within a School or education setting
- Experience in attendance, pastoral, safeguarding or family support roles
- The ability and willingness to drive and conduct home visits (Full Driving Licence and access to a vehicle are required for this role)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in working with families in challenging situations
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A calm, professional and resilient approach
