Twechar Community Action (TCA) is a well‑established community anchor organisation supporting local people through services, programmes and events. Following significant recent changes including the departure of the long‑standing founder and increased operational complexity, TCA has secured Recovery & Resilience Programme funding to stabilise the organisation and strengthen it for the future.
Role Description
We are now seeking an experienced Interim Recovery Manager to guide the organisation through this period of transition and help secure a sustainable future for the Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre. This role provides hands‑on operational leadership for the Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre. You will ensure day‑to‑day stability, support staff through change, embed new systems, and lay the groundwork for long‑term leadership. It is a practical, people‑centred position that requires calm, credibility and strong relationship‑building skills particularly when working with long‑serving staff who may need reassurance and structured support.
- Operational Leadership
- Lead the daily operational running of the Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre.
- Oversee rotas, building safety, room bookings, events, facilities and customer experience.
- Ensure the Centre operates safely, efficiently and in line with policies and procedures.
- Staff Support & Change Management
- Support long‑standing staff to adapt confidently to updated systems and expectations.
- Provide coaching, clear communication and reassurance during organisational change.
- Address resistance sensitively, whilst maintaining progress and accountability.
- Foster a positive, collaborative and stable team culture.
- Systems Implementation
- Embed HR and finance systems developed by external specialists.
- Ensure operational consistency and staff confidence in using new processes.
- Provide practical training, support and monitoring to ensure sustained adoption.
- Events Strategy & Delivery
- Develop a multi‑year events strategy for the Centre.
- Strengthen event planning, marketing, administration and evaluation processes.
- Ensure the smooth, safe delivery of community and commercial events.
- Governance & Planning
- Provide regular, clear reporting to the Board and support governance improvements.
- Maintain and update the organisational risk register.
- Produce a multi‑year organisational plan outlining future operations, staffing, events and development priorities.
- Contribute to defining the organisation’s future long‑term leadership structure.
- Transition & Exit
- Ensure a smooth and well‑documented handover to permanent leadership.
- Produce a final report summarising progress, systems embedded and remaining priorities.
Qualifications
- Senior leadership experience in a community organisation, charity or equivalent setting.
- Direct experience of day‑to‑day operational management of a centre, hub or multi‑service site.
- Experience supporting long‑standing staff through periods of organisational change.
- Experience embedding HR and finance systems into daily practice.
- Experience managing or delivering community and/or commercial events.
- Strong operational management and organisational skills.
- Calm, confident and practical decision‑maker.
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching abilities.
- Skilled at change management with empathy and clarity.
- Strong understanding of governance, planning and risk.
- Ability to quickly build credibility with staff and Board members.
