Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and repair a variety of fixed and mobile plant used in waste handling (e.g., shredders, compactors, screeners, loading shovels, telehandlers).
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Support the wider operations team and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a plant fitter/mechanic, ideally within waste management, recycling, quarrying, or a similar heavy industry.
  • Good understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and basic electrics.
  • A proactive attitude to fault finding and problem solving.
  • Full UK driving licence (additional plant tickets an advantage).
  • Committed to safe working practices in a high-risk environment.
