The Technical Illustrator is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of high-quality technical illustrations and graphical assets that support client contracts and business objectives. This includes the production of technical artwork for integration into aftermarket service publications and parts catalogues. The role plays a key part in ensuring that technical information is communicated accurately, effectively, and in accordance with corporate branding standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical illustrations to support aftermarket service publications and parts catalogues.
- Develop and deliver a range of visual content, including:
- Exploded-view 2D technical illustrations
- Infographics
- Photographic manipulation and enhancement
- 3D models and visualisations
- Creative design and conceptual artwork
- Work closely with Technical Analysts to research and create technical content required for parts catalogue development.
- Collaborate with Technical Authors to produce supporting illustrations and graphical content for technical publications.
- Ensure all artwork is produced to agreed quality standards, project timescales, and client requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to illustration processes, tools, and visual communication standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Desirable: Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Technical Illustration, or a related discipline.
- Strong ability to interpret and evaluate client briefs and translate requirements into effective visual solutions.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and PTC IsoDraw.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality outputs.
Non-essential but advantageous:
- Experience in 3D modelling, rendering, and visualisation techniques.
Experience
- Desirable: Significant experience in the production of technical illustrations for engineering, manufacturing, or technical publication environments.
