Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the import, export, billing and customs processes and procedures for assigned Freight Operations accounts.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day decision-making and ensure escalations are addressed promptly.
  • Coordinate with agents, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, COE and customers to ensure smooth transactions.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained across all levels of operations.
  • Ensure that financial management, billing, and invoicing are carried out in a timely manner
  • Support productivity enhancements within Freight Operations.
  • Actively engage in freight system digitalisation initiatives across the network.
  • Support corporate initiatives for Freight Solutions.
  • Support the selection of carriers and agents and negotiate rates and pricing.
  • Support commercial activities by providing freight solutions for target customers and assisting local sales efforts through joint customer calls, bids and proposal preparation.
  • Participate in project bids and execution
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure timely generation of reports for management review
  • Ensure company policies and procedures, confidentiality requirements, and legal and ethical guidelines, such as the Delegation of Authority, are clearly communicated and adhered to.
  • Coach and guide junior team members to ensure development and succession planning

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or a related field.
  • Significant experience in freight forwarding operations, preferably in a management role, typically gained through 10+ years' relevant freight forwarding or equivalent experience.
  • Established working relationships with customers, airlines, shipping lines and agents.
  • Strong knowledge of cargo service pricing and freight operations.
  • Ensure operations comply with applicable UK customs, trade compliance, health and safety, data protection, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting.
  • Strong customer management skills.
  • Good knowledge of freight management systems, including Cargo Wise, local customs and trade portals.
  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Strong people management and development skills.
  • Strong service orientation.
